A time comes in a man’s life when he wants to look better and improve his style.
For many men, this realization is often followed by another one:
You don’t know how to shop for mens clothing.
Menswear has a fundamental principle: Not all clothes are the same.
If they were, you would have the same respect for the guy wearing baggy cargo shorts and loose-fitting tanks as for the man in the three-piece suit.
The devil is in details and many men quickly realize that they don’t know how to shop for mens clothing.
What men need to know about buying clothes
After many years of reading style books like GQ or Esquire, and spending far too much time at the mall, I discovered five essential things men should remember when shopping for clothes.
Let’s look at what is important and what isn’t when it comes to clothes that make you feel confident.
How to shop for men’s clothes
The Five Most Important Factors of Shopping For Clothes With Togel
1. The Most Important Factor: Fit is King
Fit is the most important factor in deciding whether you should spend your hard-earned money on clothing.
If the sweater fits perfectly around one’s shoulders and torso, compliments his arms and wraps around his neck, it can be a great looking sweater.
A sweater that drapes over the shoulders of a man like a dress, falls from his hips, and conceals his arms under layers of fabric can make it look absurd on another man.
Before you judge the size of a new piece of clothing, ensure you have the correct measurements.
You might consider downsizing if you are a thinner guy.
My family bought me clothes one to two sizes too big when I was a small-sized kid. They assumed that I would “grow into” the clothes.
While I did gain, my fundamental proportions didn’t change. My shoulders weren’t wider and my arms were the same length.
The large sweaters I was supposed “to grow into” looked ridiculous on me even into my 20s.
Only after accepting that I was a Small in certain cases, and not a Medium in others, did I start to create a more refined profile.
The reverse might be true if you are at the opposite end of the scale.
A medium may have fit you well in the past, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will always fit. You might need to move up to a large if you want your clothes to hug your body without being too tight.
2. Choose Colors that Complement Your Style
People (and I mean my mom here) have bought me sweaters and shirts in orange or red for years.
These purchases were made despite the fact that bright colors are likely to grab the attention of potential shoppers.
I didn’t have the guts to admit that these gifts were a waste of time and I would have to either throw them away or exchange them.
Red and orange aren’t necessarily bad colors. However, they don’t suit my skin tone.
3. Create a look that is unique to you
There are many great pieces of clothing, from fur-lined denim jackets and fitted Hawaiian shirts to choose from. But they don’t look right on me.
How can I tell? They are not in my Personal Style Profile.
Your Personal Style Profile is a guideline for how you want to look.
It gives you a structure for all your clothes that will help you feel great.
4. Finding the right feeling
I must admit that I am a sucker for the cheap button-up shirts sold at H&M for just 15 dollars.
They fit well, which is important, and come in colors that complement my skin tone.
H&M’s shirts are so affordable because they don’t spend enough on fabric.
It is made of a super light, synthetic material, which feels more like cotton than cotton.
It’s lightweight, which makes it almost impossible to see through. This is a problem for young men who are concerned about their style.
Another reason is that it makes me feel more like I am wearing a cheap costume for Halloween than a well-constructed outfit.
While fit and color are important, you should also consider the fabric of your clothes.
The more a piece feels to the touch the better it will look. It also lasts longer if it is properly cared for.
5. What amount should you spend?
This is not an accident.
Here’s a rule of thumb when it comes to the cost of your clothes:
Cheap clothes almost always come at a low price. If the price seems too high, there are reasons to be suspicious.
However, a high price does not necessarily guarantee quality.
Many brands price their merchandise high, not because of their design, fit or construction, but because they want to believe they do.
Marketing and sales are powerful when positioning is considered. Generally speaking, we believe that if something is priced high, it’s justified. This makes us more likely not to think about it.
If you follow the general rule of thumb, shop for bargains as often as you can, and be careful about the price of your clothes, it is possible to find pieces that will elevate your style without breaking the bank.
Remember, however, that no matter how much money you spend, the devil is always in the details.
