If they aren’t able to fit in your pocket, Pokemon cannot be considered “Pocket Monsters”. The Pokeball is a handy invention that can hold all types of Pokemon. You can make the Pokeball from nuts or other organic materials. There are many variations of the Pokeball. It is still unknown what happens inside the Pokeball.
Many theories exist about what happens inside a Pokeball. We can infer from the limited information available through interviews and in-game information what the Pokeball environment is like. This also helps us to understand the meaning of the Pokemon World.
What Pokemon has shown us about the inside of Pokeballs
There is very little information available about pokeballs. The ball strikes a Pokemon and they become a form energy. They then fly inside the Pokemon. The balls shrink the Pokemon in the video games. They are either sucked into the ball or they don’t. This shows that the ball can convert animals to fit inside it.
The Pokemon anime shows that there is nothing in the ball other than its mechanical inners. And creatures are seldom shown inside Pokeballs. Misty’s Psyduck takes a picture of herself inside one of her Pokeballs in one episode. However, that may only be a symbolic representation of what could happen there.
It is well-known that Pokemon can be converted into energy and stored in the ball. It has been proven that the Pokemon world can transform physical matter into energy to transport. This is evident in the Pokemon Transfer System, the way Pokeballs appear in a player’s Box when they have more than six Pokemon, and the effect of the psychic move “Teleport”. The Pokeball appears to transform Pokemon into energy, so they aren’t physically shrinking down.
“It’s very comfortable inside a Pokeball”
Although little is known about the inside of Pokeballs, there are some interesting tidbits. Junichi Masuda, the Pokemon Sun and Moon producer, spoke out about how he felt inside a Pokeball. It’s like a luxurious suite in a luxury hotel.
This suggests that each Pokemon is attracted to the Pokeball’s space. The Pokeball is essentially a virtual world created just for the Pokemon. It’s designed to provide the perfect environment for each species. These ecosystems provide comfort and privacy for their inhabitants.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean that every Pokemon will enjoy the Pokeball environment. Ash’s Pikachu, the one in Pokemon Yellow, hate being in a Pokeball. Many Pokemon in-game are eager to interact with humans and want to be free from a Pokeball. Pokeballs are made to provide a comfortable environment so it is not surprising that some Pokemon, such as Pikachu, dislike being in a Pokeball. Although it is not known if Pokeballs can be used to interact with other Pokemon, there are places like the PokePelago that allow for the use of PC-bound Pokemon. Trainers often allow their Pokemon to interact outside of Pokeballs. This is evident in anime and Pokemon Sword’s Pokemon Camp feature. Here, Pokemon can freely roam and have fun with each other.
We can therefore assume that Pokeballs don’t cause discomfort, but they are not meant to be used for long-term confinement.
